How To Measure A Child’s Feet?

  • Print a copy of our measurement guide or use a wall, ruler and paper back book.
  • Stand your child on a hard surface, with feet against the wall, weight equally balance and toes straight.
  • If using the book, use the book to mark where you’re child’s longest toe end. Use the ruler to measure the longest distance between the book and the wall.
  • If using our measurement guide, measure the length of the feet from the longest to the heel. Find the corresponding shoe size on our shoe guide.
  • Measure the width of your child’s feet from the big toe joint to the little toe joint. Ensure to place the measure on the side bump of the big toe. Wrap it around the foot for accurate measurements.
  • Measure both feet and fit the shoe to the larger foot. One foot may be longer than the other. This is fine, as half the population has one foot bigger than the other.
  • Leave a half-inch between the longest toe and the edge of the shoe for wearing shoes with socks.
  • If the child is between sizes always order the larger size.
  • In warm/hot weather, feet do swell so measure your child’s feet later in the day when they are at the biggest.
  • It is a good routine to check your child’s feet growth regularly as growth can happen in the interval of six weeks.
